An airport sensory room is a designated space intended to provide a calmer environment for travelers who may experience sensory overload. It may use thoughtful choices involving lighting, acoustics, layout, furnishings, and visual stimulation to support regulation and comfort. Highly Sensitive Design can help airport teams assess sensory triggers and develop an inclusive environment shaped around the needs of neurodivergent and highly sensitive travelers.
