Sensory inclusion begins with understanding how students experience their surroundings. Highly Sensitive Design helps schools identify sensory, cognitive, behavioral, functional, environmental, and aesthetic considerations, then translate those insights into practical recommendations. The result is a more inclusive and functional educational environment that supports learning, regulation, well-being, and social acceptance without treating individual differences as problems.

Bring architectural expertise and lived experience to your school’s inclusion goals.
Architecture, education, psychology, therapy, toxicology, holistic medicine, and special education inform the work.
Recommendations address sensory, cognitive, behavioral, functional, environmental, and aesthetic needs together.
Each project considers individual sensory preferences, routines, support needs, and the school environment.
Schools receive actionable design guidance for spaces shaped around neurodivergent student experiences.

Start by observing which sounds, lights, textures, smells, transitions, or spatial conditions appear to create discomfort or support regulation. Schools can document patterns, collaborate with families and relevant professionals, and adapt environments around the child’s needs. A sensory environment assessment can help identify triggers and guide practical recommendations for classrooms, sensory rooms, waiting areas, and shared spaces.
